It goes something like this,
everyday, cleanse and then moisturise, then
once a week, cleanse, exfoliate and then moisturise. Easy!
I've noticed that I have more men asking me for tips on ways to look after their skin. Often brought up around the BBQ or drinks table at get-togethers. This is very encouraging to see more and more men interested in looking after their skin.
I'm happy to say that skin routines don't need to be daunting or confusing. Take a look below at the easy suggestions you can add to your daily routine that won’t take you more than 5 minutes to adopt.
1. Keep it simple
The complex range of lotions out there can make it confusing and products can often end up unused in the bathroom cupboard, only to be discovered a year or two later when one is cleaning!
Start with a few basic products like a cleanser and moisturiser and slowly add in products monthly or quarterly as you get more comfortable with your routine.
It's time to put the soap away and use a professional cleanser, one that respects the pH of the skin and effectively removes dirt and grime from the day’s pollutants. We recommend Juvenate’s Revitalising Cleanser.
Our skin’s moisture is depleted over the course of the day due to our external environment and we need to add moisture back to hydrate the skin. Try incorporating a moisturiser twice a day in the morning and evening after cleansing the skin. It will reduce sensitivities and help with a smoother shave.
Exfoliation is a great way to prevent ingrown hairs and it increases cell turnover giving your skin a smoother surface. Start once a week in mornings after you have cleansed the skin and increase to twice a week. Our go-to product is the Alpha Resurfacer from Juvenate. Remember to always moisturise your skin after exfoliating.
5. Facial steaming
This is a great way to help soften the skin prior to extracting pimples, ingrown hairs and to soften the beard before shaving. Try this once a week after you have cleansed, exfoliated and are now ready for that perfect shave! Read the steps here.
